Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

Our daily task vary but essentially consits of classroom based theory learning which is then demonstrated within practical drills.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I really enjoyed the program. Some areas are pruposely designed to be difficult in order to test resiliance and the ability to work under pressure. Passing these test stages felt very rewarding.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

I have learnt many new skills directly related to the role and have also imrpvoed my exisiting skills such as communication, fitness levels, decision making.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?

The programme is well structured with a few very minor areas for improvement. As far as organisation is concerned everything ran impressively smoothly.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
4/5
I did not require much support but it was clear all learning types and requirements would be catered to.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
4/5
The qualifications are directly implemented within the apprenticeship and so therefore there has been a strong onus to complete anything required.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

The qualifications and associated skills will be essential for our roles as firefighters. I did feel some areas of training could of been longer and some shorter.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

There is a club for almost anything!

Why?
Excellent members of staff, good work atmosphere, an effective policy regarding safeguarding at work, excellent kit and tools.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to London Fire Brigade?
Be patient, the recruitment process may be longer than other vocations because the role is so highly desired.
