Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
3/5
I am in the Anti-Money Laundering Sector, therefore I work for a large global bank completing KYC due diligence. Day-to-Day we do case work for the bank, looking through accounts and publicly available sources. We also interact with customers of the bank getting information and filling this onto the Banks database.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
The program has provided a helpful understanding of what i would like to do in the future. It has allowed me to gain friends and also insight experiences. Overall, my day-to-day role is something i enjoy doing.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
Through this apprenticeship, I have learnt how to communicate effectively. This is a useful skill which can be taken to other jobs. I have developed skills such as paying close attention to detail, time management and also managing my own work flow.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
2/5
It is well structured and quite organized. We are assigned to our own coaches and mentors which makes it easy to express how I am feeling and career aspirations. One thing that often does happen however is a lack of communication between the workplace and the university which impacts directly on our development.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
3/5
We receive study days, where we are allowed to pick when to take them which is useful for busier periods around uni assignments. We also have regular check ins where we can escalate any issues or themes that we need to.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
5/5
We have a meeting with our coach every 6 weeks which tracks progress and makes sure that we are on track. All uni lecturers are helpful and will often respond to emails in a timely manner.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
5/5
The learning is mostly transferrable to the work role. Instead of teaching direct skills it helps with self development.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
4/5
We have project socials around every month which gives us time to connect outside of a work environment. I also take part in the Smart Foundation initiation.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend EY to a friend?
Yes
Why?
They provide a strong foundation of skills and how you would be expected to work in the future. It is a good look for next employees as EY is a recognized company.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to EY?
You will be given lots of opportunities which are good to take. Once you are up to speed with workflows it is important to network and get involved outside of everyday tasks.
