Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
Writing a lot of code, talking with clients, engineers and the team.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
It's been a journey of learning, growth and also difficulty. Given the financial freedom you also get, I'd say I have very much enjoyed the program

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
Yes, you effectively learn how to code, build and scale complex systems. Effectively puts you way ahead of your peers in terms of technical and practical skills. I'm soon to finish the program and I strongly believe this is the best decision I have made in my life to date even whilst considering opportunities from top universities.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
3/5
The program is fairly well organized, from a work perspective. The university program could be structured better, we are constantly encouraged to give feedback and I think its great the university and work actively listen to our suggestions and improvements. I think the 3 day work, 2 day university split is optimal, although for years after me they have changed it.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
The network and support I have built at Goldman has been immense.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
3/5
University support is more limited, although I think this is a good thing as it allows you to explore different areas of interest and enquiry.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
3/5
Alot of the modules were relevant to my work role. For example algorithms and data structures, big data processing, neural networks and deep learning. I believe they are changing the degree for years below me and making it slightly less technical which isn't great but the curriculum is constantly adapting to feedback.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
Lots! Tennis, football, apprentice stuff!

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend Goldman Sachs Group to a friend?
Yes
Why?
I believe its a once in a lifetime opportunity. Like any higher education pathway, there is room for improvement but in terms of the network and learning opportunities available, I strongly believe nothing like this exists. . As someone who is extremely academic, I will admit the university studies will not give you exactly what you are looking for, but there's nothing stopping you from learning what you want. If you are reading this and considering various other options, I'd highly encourage you to apply and join the program.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Goldman Sachs Group?
Be a nice person who can demonstrate team work ability.
