Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
As a software engineer I develop and test software in a financial context. Day to day I contribute to the building of software systems by writing and testing code.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
4/5
I enjoy much of the programme, particularly work is filled with many opportunities to lean and grow. The studies half of the programme although less joyful, can be beneficial and doesn't take away from the huge benefits that the overall programme provides

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
Absolutely. I've learnt both technical and soft skills. Technically, I've learnt what's involved in each stage of the software engineering lifecycle and how to execute each stage effectively. This includes, working technically with Project/Product leads, programming and writing code, testing code and shipping software.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
4/5
The programme is quite structured with a dedicated apprenticeship team on both the university side and work side of the programme. Challenges do arise however, all problems and difficulties very immediately get raised with these dedicated teams, and action is taken to solve them.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
4/5
A lot of support is received from the employer. Regularly the employer meets with the cohort to offer and provide support
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
3/5
Training provider, provides the support needed to complete the apprenticeship when it comes to administration. However, when it comes to developing skills for our role and technical upskilling this support lacks and doesn't feel sophisticated nor consistent.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
2/5
The qualification in my opinion isn't a deciding factor to how well an individual performs at work. In some areas it is futile, on few occasions has the learning been transferable to work.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
4/5
Yes
