Overview of Role
Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

I work in ground operations and everyday we go in and if we are doing logistics we will drive around and go to the planes either delivering ulds or offloading the ulds and if we are in baggage we get the bags and scan them and put them inside of the uld so it is ready to be taken to the plane
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I enjoy it a lot as it is more hands on and I like being more hands on with the job and I like meeting new people and have made a lot of new friends from the program as I am meeting new people everyday and also like how anything can change in the operation
Skills Development
Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

I have learnt how to do proper manual handling and to be able to load a aircraft and collect bins and take them to the belts I have also improved on my teamwork skills as I am always working in a team out on the ramp as there is a lot of people what work for the company

How well organised/structured is your programme?

It hasn’t been structured the best as when we passed are training we just got left by are selfs and didn’t really know what to do but are old trainers told us what to do and who to shadow as we didn’t know anyone and didn’t know who was good and who was bad
How much support do you receive from your employer?

We receive a lot of support from are manger if we ask him anything he will figure it out for us but the only bad thing is that he isn’t based in t5 so we can’t just go up to him and ask him about stuff we have to contact him but he does reply to us very quickly
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

I receive a lot of help he is always trying to push me and always there to help me if I get stuck on anything he always helps me out and makes sure I understand by explaining it to me in a more simpler way so I can get on with the work
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

Yeah I feel like it does help quite a lot as it makes us safe out on the ramp as it is very dangerous out on the ramp and anything could happen so with all the information we get given it does help us quite a lot so we know what to look out for
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

Yes there are lots of activities we can get are selfs into there’s 1-1 meetings with new apprentices on a call so they can ask us questions about the job and there is also a sports day for apprentices that they are running with lots of different sports and stuff for everyone to do

I would recommend it to a friend Because it is a very good company to work for and you are able to go anywhere in the company no matter what u applied for so there is lots of opportunities for you to explore in the company and can see what you like the best
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to British Airways?
Just be yourself that’s all you really can do because if your not going to be yourself when they accept you they will eventually see your true side but just be confident happy be ready to talk a lot and meet a lot of new people and be ready to work with people
