Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
International tax, more specifically working within the Transfer Pricing team.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
4/5
It is an insightful role and I feel lucky to be within Transfer Pricing as clients vary across financial service industries, and the team is very friendly and highly competent.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
Developed skills such as presenting, research, communicating, writing. Gained new business insight and understanding, learned skills relating to report-writing and management.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
4/5
It is clear as to when we are in college and when we are working, there is rarely crossover which allows me to separate the two effectively. Only downside was at the start, as it felt quite strange to join a new workplace and then immediately leave for 2 months for college.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
4/5
There are numerous avenues by which EY are supportive, both from the company itself and internally from managers etc.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
4/5
Largely very good - tutors are very knowledgeable and the online course content and structure by which it is taught is clear. Few issues around assessments and mocks though, which will hopefully be cleared up.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
3/5
The course content isn't highly relevant to my specific job role, although that is not really the fault of the qualification, more that I work within a very niche area of tax.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
4/5
There are sports teams which I can't join due to where I live, but will in the future, there are sporting events which I have partaken in and many networking and social events.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend EY to a friend?
Yes
Why?
People - 99% of people you meet are welcoming. friendly, personable, from all kinds of different backgrounds, they make up the foundation of the culture in the office.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to EY?
Have an open-mind i.e. say Yes to almost everything possible, within reason. It is key for gaining business insight and getting the most out of the role. Need to be able to adapt to a new environment, and let other people help you do that as they have been there and done it before.
