Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
I work in financial services assurance, specifically in Pensions assurance. My day-to-day in general entails low level analysis of financial records and auditing various financial accounts of pension schemes. I report to both seniors and managers daily, helping out with sporadic work papers across several engagements where I am needed.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
3/5
I enjoy the analytical nature of a lot of the work, as well as opportunities to meet lots of different workers from around the country.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
On a general level, given the ad hoc nature of my work as well the plethora of different engagement teams I engage with day to day, I've been able to develop my communication skills.
On a specific level, I have developed skills in general auditing tasks, including reading financial records, employing skepticism and utilizing excel functions.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
3/5
The structure can be difficult at times given the separation between management and individual schedules (organized on Retain), nonetheless, the rotation to new engagements is always quick when necessary, and work and support are readily available.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
4/5
The counsellor system is a good one, as I can reach out and ask for support as required.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
4/5
I am afforded adequate time off, which is enough for me
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
2/5
Somewhat. I think the specificity of my role at EY (within pensions) makes the material learnt at ICAS somewhat untranslatable to my work. Though not always.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
4/5
There are plenty of activities afforded.
