I was with my mentors assisting them with checking in passengers, tagging bags, working in the premium lounges, boarding passengers onto their flights and working in the arrivals area. It was such an amazing experience and extremely hands on. Everyone who I worked with was extremely friendly and always guiding me on what to do!
To what extent did you enjoy your work experience?

I extremely enjoyed my work experience! My group who I was with was amazing we all got along like a house on fire which made the week amazing. Our mentors went out of their way to make sure we had an amazing experience!
How well organised was your work experience?

It was very well organised and clearly had been thought through to every last detail. Everyone knew what they were doing and even if something didn’t go to plan, the mentors had backups and knew what to do.
How much did your work experience help you in deciding on your future career path?

I had already decided what I wanted to do in aviation and this experience solidified what I already thought in aviation! It was amazing and definitely want to get into aviation!

What training and skills development did you learn from your work experience?

I learned and developed many soft skills which I still carry with me, It allowed me to grow both personally and professionally and has opened up a bunch of new opportunities for me. A big one was communication which is massive in the aviation industry and I was able to develop this even further than I already had.

How much did you learn about the company culture and what it would be like to work there?

Before my placement I did a lot of research about the culture and on my first day It was exactly as I expected. Everyone was so inclusive and they have lots of events for different cultures which is amazing. British Airways would be an absolutely amazing company to work for!
Were there opportunities for networking and meeting other employees?

Yes there was lots of opportunities and I met so many new people who gave me lots of tips and advice!

Just because of how organised, incisive, friendly and how well they run the company and the experience. It was truly an amazing experience and would recommend to anyone!

Just be yourself! They want to see an authentic unfiltered version of you so let your personality shine! Always give your ideas and feedback - they want to hear from you!
