Please give an overview of what your work experience involved:

Working on the engines of aircrafts that are part of the BA fleet. We got an insight into each aircraft while we got a tour inside each of them, including the cockpit. I had the chance to be in the cockpit during a live enging run on an aircraft. We saw the differences between short haul and long haul engineering. We also got a tour of the warehouse/ building of where all the engines are inside Heathrow.
To what extent did you enjoy your work experience?

It was simply amazing. It grew my passion for aviation and made me realise why BA is such a good company to work with. The work experience gave a deep insight into what I needed to learn and so it was very beneficial. I had a really fun time alongside learning vital information about the aircrafts and engineering.
How well organised was your work experience?

There was a plan for each day and it was well prepared before we had even arrived. Even on the day we left everything was well-organised in the pack we received.
How much did your work experience help you in deciding on your future career path?

It definitely swayed me towards staying with British Airways and going into the the field of aviation. Before, my mind was between finance and aviation, but this experience certainly helped me in deciding that I want to pursue a career in aviation.
Were you paid or reimbursed for this experience?

No, but I was extremely lucky to get this opportunity as it sets me apart from others. Alongside this, I have the opportunity to become a student ambassador in the future with BA which will really help me in becoming a pilot in the future with the airline.

How much did you learn about the company culture and what it would be like to work there?

I learnt a lot about how BA treats its employees and I was impressed to learn the new changes that Sean Doyle has brought in to make BA a better environment and more appealing to employees. It has certainly made me want to work for British Airways in the future.
Were there opportunities for networking and meeting other employees?

Yes, I met many other employees of different ages. This was extremely helpful as we got advice from a range of people. The work experience also gave us an opportunity to return to BA for other opportunities which allowed me to widen my network with other employees at BA.

Why?
British Airways is just a very good company to say the least and this was an amazing opportunity that I would definitely recommend.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to British Airways?
Be confident, ask a lot of questions. Immerse yourself with the experience as much as you can if you get selected for the opportunity. Make sure to do your research on the company before-hand and try to embody what the airline looks for in their employees (values).
