It involved Landside Passenger handling, Baggage handling, Baggage transfer, Shadowing supervisors and dispatchers within their own areas, Line engineering, Schedule management, Crisis control management, Baggage redirection, Aircraft dispatch, WOPS (winter operations), fuel management, Aircraft pushback, Critical services, weight balancing within an aircraft, aircraft walk arounds and flight deck inspections and a lot more.
To what extent did you enjoy your work experience?

It was amazing, British Airways creates a sense of loyalty like no other. I want to work with them in the future due to this opportunity that they provided me now. British Airways clearly values its employees and puts its values at the forefront, if you don't value those values, you are not going to be part of the company.
How well organised was your work experience?

The work experience was extremely organized, the only hitch happened when the deicing expert went to Arizona for business causes but since the business was so well organized we still got to experience the deicing of the A380. We were able to get things arranged on the fly, we managed to arrange us sitting in pushback tugs (4 of us) in less than 24 hours.
How much did your work experience help you in deciding on your future career path?

I came into work experience knowing I wanted to be a pilot. I left work experience knowing that if I didn't do something related to aviation I wouldn't be happy. Without this I might have gone into the biology field but with this it was one of the best weeks of my life and could be my future career.

What training and skills development did you learn from your work experience?

How is baggage handled, what is safe operating procedure, the importance of health and safety, The importance of being organized and the impact of delays on the business as a whole. How a minor fault can turn into a huge one without reporting it. How your punctuality can impact the business as a whole.
Company Culture
How much did you learn about the company culture and what it would be like to work there?

The company culture is the most important part of BA. BA's culture is inclusive, unique and if you don't support them BA is not going to hire you. Waterside is a different world compared to London as everyone in there treats you like family.
Were there opportunities for networking and meeting other employees?
5/5
We met with the head of operations in multiple departments, tours were conducted by extremely high standing employees too. Showcasing BA's unique culture about there is no such thing as the top as department heads were willing to use their free time to teach us work experience students who were at the bottom of the ladder.

To have a passion to get in. Without it you will not be able to get into the work experience or BA as a company!
