Overview of the Experience

Please give an overview of what your work experience involved:
4/5
I explored British Airways operations across Terminals 3 (for one day) and 5, shadowing staff at check-in, boarding, landside, and airside. I used the FLY check in system, assisted with passenger handling, visited lounges, and toured a few aircraft whilst airside. I certainly also enjoyed working alongside mentors to board full long-haul and short-haul flights. All days were busy, fun and interesting, I wish i could do it again!
To what extent did you enjoy your work experience?
5/5
I really did enjoy my work experience thoroughly, the day was hosted by the kindest people who made me feel welcome. We did lots things, as said before, all of which were actually enjoyable and fun due to the people around me. I met lots and lots of new people and got a real insight of how it is to work at Heathrow with British Airways.
How well organised was your work experience?
4/5
The work experience was very well organised; I don't believe we came across any issues. Everything we did was well planned, and went well
How much did your work experience help you in deciding on your future career path?
3/5
I am already set on what I would like to do in the future (becoming a commercial pilot), but this definitely did compliment everything I thought about working with BA, and reinforced my initial understandings of airlines.
Were you paid or reimbursed for this experience?
1/5
No, but this is okay, I went for the experience.

Skills Development

What training and skills development did you learn from your work experience?
4/5
I learnt core customer service skills, how to talk to passengers and about BA's systems. I also learnt from the people around me, how they work as a team and co-operate to manage in a fast, efficient and busy environment like Heathrow Airport. I watched how staff communicated, and joined in to help with the boarding process and checking in passengers.

Company Culture

How much did you learn about the company culture and what it would be like to work there?
4/5
I learnt a lot about what it would be like to work with BA as we were given passenger facing roles the whole time.
Were there opportunities for networking and meeting other employees?
3/5
We met lots of employees that were working with BA, as they were all around me! I did lots of talking to everybody I could, including pilots which was very nice.
