Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
My role currently involves moving around into different placements in mostly IT, but some business, every 3/4 months. This allows me to get a good view of the IT/Business Landscape as a whole. On a day-to-day basis, I do a variety of different tasks relating to my placement.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
4/5
I would say I do very much enjoy my programme. This is because it is a great opportunity and one that I am massively interested in. I think this is because the company I am working for is one that I have a genuine interest in.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
I have learn a lot of new skills relating to working, IT and project management. However, I have also built on existing skills that I have gained from school/college and my previous jobs.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
3/5
At the start of my apprenticeship it was a little "rocky" due to there not being a specific structure that was to be followed and it seemed that there was times I had a lack of tasks. However, I soon settled in and got a good amount of tasks when I started my first placement.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
I receive a very good amount of support from my employer. My Line Manager is massively supportive with any questions I may have. As well as this, my placement managers have also been helpful with guiding me and giving me relevant tasks to help me build up my knowledge throughout my future career.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
2/5
I receive a good amount of support, but there can definitely be room for improvement. I say this because I have had times, when completing my first essay exams, that I felt that I was alone in doing so and didn't have loads of guidance on what I was meant to be doing and who I could necessarily go to for help.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
3/5
Currently, there is around a 50/50 split. This is due to there being 2 modules each semester. One of these modules is usually very relevant and helpful to performing better in my role. However, the other one is usually more generic and not as specific to helping me in my day-to-day tasks at this stage in my career. This doesn't make it bad though.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
3/5
There is social activities that sometimes happen within my home team. However, there isn't many outside that which I am familiar about. I also play football every week with BMW, which I enjoy very much and it allows me to connect to people that I most likely wouldn't have normally.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend BMW Group UK to a friend?
Yes
Why?
This is because I enjoy most days that I work and the opportunities that I have (especially being at the start of my career) are endless. As well as this, everyone that I have spoken to and worked with in the business has been so helpful and supportive throughout my first 6 months. This really helps when settling in because you feel a sense of comfort which I think is important.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to BMW Group UK?
I would first say to be yourself. I think it's important to have an open mindset and not to create a fake persona. I would also say that it would be a positive to have a good understanding of the BMW Group brands, such as BMW, MINI, RR. This is because it shows that you have a genuine interest in the business.
