Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

As an apprentice in the private tax team i help onboarding clients and general admin work, whilst also helping create tax analysis papers and steps papers for clients to review and implement. I am also involved in the submission of tax returns.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I extremely enjoy the course i'm on as well the team i am surrounded by they are supportive and helpful and the environment and culture of the company is one of the best parts of working at EY
Skills Development
Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

I have learnt better sills regarding organization as well as skills that have furthered my knowledge and ability to research and understand the tax treatment or applications to specific scenarios. EY has also allowed me to further my confidence with client interactions.
Structure and Support
How well organised/structured is your programme?

There is a clear structure within the team and this leads to order and good organization within the team, however, if a chain is broken in this link there is a porr structure and work is not passed to lower level workers correctly or often enough.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

The support and use of the buddy and counselor system within EY is in my case amazing and extremely helpful when trying to navigate work and the job. I think counselors need to be people you work with directly day to day as i'm aware some people don't have the same experience as me.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

Adequate help and resources are provided. The systems in place work very well but in my opinion the courses to teach you exam contents should always be done in person as this is way more engaging and helpful for the students to learn and actively ask questions.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

It gives me a wider view and knowledge for tax and accounting practices but naturally some of the exams i have done have no use in my field of tax but this is helpful to uns.derstand accounting practice
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

There is a vast amount of options for extra curriculars at EY, which i take advantage of playing cricket, football and running as well as emails surrounding societies that host all the networking events. I think it could be more shown within the office and on systems the networking events which we can attend in the area. However, i believe EY does this to a very good standard already

Why?
I would and have suggested working at EY to friends previously and this is mainly because fo the culture of the company and how they treat there staff. This has always been important for me when choosing a job and the options offered at EY for possible sabbaticals or secondments is amazing.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to EY?
When applying always try to remain calm in interviews and or tests and try to be as confident as possible and just be yourself, people will appreciate you trying to get involved as it's a sign you'll work well within a team setting. Also do as much research about the company your interviewer etc, make sure to have some questions to ask in an interview and be pro active.
