Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

Diagnosing and reifying vehicles on a daily basis, including service and maintenance, and more complex repairs including timing belts, clutchs.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I very much enjoy getting stuck into a job, more harder the job the better, as I love the challenge of being able to correctly diagnose and then fix the vehicle the customer has brought to us.

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

Ever since I've been within Halfords, I've learned new skills every day, I've continued to improve and encouraged myself to do better every single job so the customer is getting the best possible service.

How well organised/structured is your programme?

It's very well organised, I know my aims and goals by the end of the program, and I'm constantly encourage that my work is spot on.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

I get alot of support from my colleagues, encouraging me on my best of days and on my worst of days, whenever i need help or feedback they're there to give.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

I gain a day session a week with the college I'm with, and whenever theres an issue they sort it out straight away, and If I feel weak in an area of vehicle repair, they will do a one on one and help me understand it better.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

I feel like its helped alot to achieve what I want to achieve within halfords and being a mechanic in general.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

There is a few activities including apprentice of the year, where I have been the last 2 years and going again this year, which would be the top 10 within Halfords, and it is a great chance to get, as you see other mechanics from different areas and different skills.

Would you recommend Halfords to a friend?

Why?
It is a great place to start off with, as you learn basics of the basics, with jobs flowing through quite nicely and with good techs it helps your skills skyrocket.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Halfords?
Get along with the people there, as they will be of great help, and not only that, be friendly to customers and take care of peoples vehicles as it is like a second home to most.
