Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

Aircraft workshop apprentice - rotation through the workshop working in different departments such as Engines (repairing and stripping engines), composites (identifying and repairing damage in the composite material), engine health monitoring etc. Rotate departments every 3 months so it is always something new, no day is ever the same.

A lot of hand skills, technical knowledge, professional and technical terms, techniques and methods etc.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?

It is organised. The workshop leadership team help a lot with the organising and structuring of the programme to help us do the rotations and gain any knowledge we can. Our academic side is also somewhat organised with classes and tasks but most of it is self-taught/guided gently.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

Support is given when needed.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

Most of it is self taught/vocational but the teachers/lecturers are always more than happy to help, assist and guide us when doing our course.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

It definitely helps with developing my hand skills and technical knowledge so that i can use it in the workplace in my role.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

There are plenty of volunteering opportunities as well as things such as family days and sports events for charity etc that anyone in the company can partake in.
