I am a planning apprentice within the Woodshop. I am learning everything from basic manufacturing tools, to higher level quality tools, to PFMEAs, to product development, to manufactruing, to the job role and PSP.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I really enjoy the work I do here in Woodshop and can't wait to qualify and be let loose. I love my day to day because each day is new.

Yes I have learnt lots of new skills such as all the ones detailed above.
Structure and Support
How well organised/structured is your programme?

Very well structured. Here in Woodshop, we have a local mentor called aisling who deals with a lot of the stuff we need. I am able to have a lot of say over my structure and plan out what I want to do.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

I recieve lots of support from my department manager. Everytime something has come up, he has been straight on it and helps me to professionally develop. My HR manager is not quite the same. I would say I feel disappointed sometimes with the lack or action on topics raised. 5/10 for the lack of HR.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

Time and time again I have asked for support and recieved nothing.
Each time I am told I am Level 4, I should be working it out for myself.
If that is the case, why am I at college?
Surely I can't be expected to attend college, get nothing, and then have to teach myself all the content in the evenings.
So far, I would be no better off if I had not attended college since the start of the year.

It does provide me with information that helps but a lot of that information is self taught.

Why?
Change needs to happen to the apprenticeship but it is a phenomenal place to work work.
