Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

I spend my time in an office based role, working on both front end and back end development for our in-house built systems that are specialized to my department. I am currently on placement around the area where my systems are used in order to help me better understand the processes and meet the people who use my systems, allowing me to further develop the systems to suit the area better.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

My program so far has been super interesting and has been really beneficial in moving me towards my career goals. Some days can be a little slow but there is always a new task to get involved and stuck into.
Skills Development
Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

When I first started my role I had very minimal coding experience, this was never a problem for me as my team were always very supportive and made it easy for me to pick up the coding languages I needed to know. My university course has later gone through and explained line by line what each command means.
Structure and Support
How well organised/structured is your programme?

The course at university has been well structured and laid out, we were given a clear view of all of the modules that were to come on the first day. We follow a structure of 2 semesters per academic year with 2 modules per semester, as I attend university once a week.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

My team have been extremely supportive of my learning and are always on hand to help if I get stuck. The department management have been supportive from a distance as our team self manages the work that we do.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

We have 3 Progress reviews a year to ensure that we are keeping on track with our assignments, attendance and Off the Job. These are often lead by the apprentice with support from our employer and training provider. The reviews give targets that are to be worked on before the next review.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

One of the modules from my second semester in my first year runs through the code behind websites line by line, this is useful as I now have a greater understanding of coding languages. Some of the modules, whilst are interesting seem a little unrelated to the course and my day to day role.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
