Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
The Apprenticeship is split into 2-3 months placements across the factory. Depending on where you placement is based the work can differ quite a lot, but in general day to day work looks like doing maintenance to the production line, both mechanical and electrical/PLC and covering production.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
4/5
I enjoy the apprenticeship. It challenges me and pushes me to learn and improve. I enjoy the work that we do and the people we work with. It can get very busy at times studying for a degree on top of fulltime work, but overall I would definitely recommend.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
Yes, every day you are learning and developing existing skills. There is constantly something you are learning; from learning the production line and its stations to learning how to program a PLC. Due to the scale of the plant and the placement scheme there is constantly new skills being learned and developed.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
3/5
The program is well structured and organized. In certain circumstances there is a slight lack in organizing in terms of placement planning, or structure of the apprenticeship, but overall it is good.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
4/5
I receive good support from you employer. I receive weekly training sessions/mentorship by my employer; and feel able to talk about or receive support if needed.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
4/5
I receive a good level of support from the training provider. The training provider are always in contact via email/teams, and offer good support when needed. Weekly lectures are held and any additional support or questions are answered quickly. Overall it is very good.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
4/5
The qualification is useful as it gives a bit of context and theory to the work that we do on plant. One example of this is learning electronic and electrical theory. The qualification provides the principals of electronic/electrical principals, which then allows me to execute jobs such as testing or work to electrical cabinets etc.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
4/5
Yes, there are social activities organized by each department that you can attend if you like. There are also sports teams that are held each week if you want/can attend.
