Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
3/5
Interacting with clients, working as part of a team, testing accounts on the financial statements, performing planning procedures to understand the business and its processes.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
4/5
I enjoy the programme - have built a good support network and group of friends that make me look forward to coming to work, the job is interesting and highly varied so very rarely do the same thing more than a few times.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
Yes - knew nothing about audit prior to starting and now have good knowledge that I can explain it to others. Have developed skill in talking to clients to understand problems and communicate issues.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
4/5
Well organised- clear breaks for studying which is well accommodated by managers and enables high focus on the course. Clear progression path which sets expectations and acheivable goals early on.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
4/5
Excellent support network - counsellor and buddy upon joining, connect with others in the cohort who go through similar experiences and so can offer support, friendly seniors who are easy to talk to when you have questions.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
4/5
Lots of support- sufficient study leave in order to learn and prepare for exams, understanding from managers when exams are approaching to allow you to increase the balance between work and study.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
3/5
Learn things on the course that are applicable to the role and so return from college with greater knowledge of the job
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
3/5
Yes - plenty of networks and social events, e.g. a football team, monthly socials, networks such as the womens network and social network (in charge of planning socials)

Would you recommend EY to a friend?

Why?
Look after their people better than the other big 4, friendly seniors and management, clear career progression
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to EY?
Research the firm - initiatives about carbon emissions, womens network, be prepared to speak about why you want the location you've applied for, understand the businesses in the surrounding area
