Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
Currently, on a day-to-day, I study a Level 2 Advanced manufacturing course full time at college. I study a various amount of subjects, some of them being: Pneumatics and Hydraulics in fluid power, Electrical and Mechanical maintenance, PLC programming and milling. The days are quite good as I'm being taught a very broad insight on engineering in general whilst spending a day studying my Foundation degree as well.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
I thoroughly enjoy it, I genuinely enjoy what it is I do.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
Yes, I've definitely learnt new skills such as learning how to wire lighting within electrical maintenance to learning how to safely build hydraulic systems. The skills I've learnt so far have been interesting and informative and I have enjoyed the skills I've learnt.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
3/5
The programme in terms of my employers is very well organised. When I have to be in work rather than college, there is typically always something planned for me to do and as well as that, my department have been very welcoming and supportive of me since joining. The training provider on the other hand can be slightly aggravating when there is a lack of planning or preparation.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
A lot of support, I have nothing bad to say about my company at all, anytime I have a situation at college and I inform my manager, I feel very supported and heard which I think is crucial especially as a first year apprentice. It's quite daunting at first but once settled I knew I could rely on my company.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
1/5
Not much, to be frank, Bmet is quite unorganised and it feels hard to be heard or get any support from them.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
2/5
I think the training will help with my role, to what extent, I'm not quite sure at the moment but I will know better once I go back to my company.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
3/5
No.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend BMW Group UK to a friend?
Yes
Why?
They're just a good company to work for, I honestly cannot say anything about BMW. It's been amazing starting my career journey with them.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to BMW Group UK?
My advice would be to fully prepare for the application, interview and assessment centre.
