Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
As a level 6 control engineer, I study at James Watt Bmet for a level 2 AME and level 4 foundation in electronic and electrical engineering. I will progress onto the level 5 in year two once a week and starting out at plant then level 6 in year 3 and 4.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
2/5
This is based on the current circumstance. I enjoy my time in plant which is infrequent in first year, however the college (James Watt Bmet) is very unorganised and not always well equipped for things they offer.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
Have learnt several skills from in depth electronic knowledge, maintenance of a variety of machinery and tools, hydraulics as well as coding in PLC.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
3/5
The general aspect of what happens and when is organised when it is set in motion. However there is a lot of disorganisation at the college and are yet to have a plan in place for my placements at work.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
4/5
Very supportive especially when emergencies arise.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
4/5
They constantly keep us on track and if we fall behind support us and do not add any extra stress. Due to being at college everyday, we do not specifically need study days away from work, however the opportunity is always offered when relevant.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
3/5
My degree is very beneficial for the work I will be undertaking. However several aspects of the level 2 are not relevant, but I understand it is to give a basic level of understanding.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
A lot is offered, both by the company and by the employees. There are social groups set up and run by staff which you can get involved with, as well as charity teams amongst other things run internally.
