Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
The role involves spending time in the classroom on Mondays, learning about Health and Safety Legislations, Materials, Communications and Maths. Between Tuesday and Thursday we spend time in the workshop carrying out different engineering activities from using the Lathe Machines, Welding, Electronics, Fluid Power, Milling and Welding. Then on Friday we have general paperwork work day where we fill out questionnaires on what we did in the workshop during the week.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
It's a lot of work but really enjoyable and fulfilling when you get tasks completed.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
I have learnt a lot of new skills such as using Milling and Turning Machines, Welding and also how to conduct a risk assessment.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
5/5
Very structured and well put together, there are hardly any gaps in between, and this teaches you about time management and organisation.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
There is adequate support from BMW, they listen and point you to the right direction where you can get help if you are struggling and they are there to support you through the program.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
5/5
A lot of support, I get good feedback on a regular basis and consult with my tutors on issues I have and they are very happy to sit down with me and explain what I have to do to improve the tasks I was given.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
5/5
I think the qualification helps in my current role as it has modelled my behaviour and technical skills in the workshop, it has also increased my awareness of health and safety procedures when working, a combination of these qualifications continue to improve my aptitude in my current role.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
4/5
There are opportunities to engage in some extracurricular activities like sports or fund raising for charity, there are opportunities to network with peers in senior years when we get together as a group for our Monthly In Dialogue sessions.
