Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
This role varies day to day as different jobs may arise each day. Generally my day will consist of me being paired with a maintenance team member and shadowing them for the day encountering different jobs each day. As a maintenance apprentice it is important to understand the area and the going on so i spend my days familiarising myself with the area and the machinery within. I will frequently strip and rebuild machinery ready to be used again.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
4/5
I enjoy the programme it offers many opportunities for growth.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
I am always developing my skillset in order to better fit my role. I often learn new skills especially when working with other maintenance technicians because they all have varying techniques.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
3/5
The programme is well structured however with a large influx of newer apprentices i can see this changing soon and not for the better. The placement structure is done well.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
4/5
I receive adequate support, with managers and assessors being only a message away. We have weekly meetings with our manager so we can ask any questions or receive any updates.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
3/5
Our assessor is very helpful and is only a message away if we need any support. The tutors for the BTEC can be helpful.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
3/5
The first year was beneficial for the introduction and building the necessary skillset, however my placement has taught me a lot more. The training provider is good for the BTEC side and does help with understanding some of the more complex theory.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
4/5
There are a number of extra curricular activities, such as apprentice newsletter, apprentice liaison, school events and charity teams.
