Overview of Experience

Please give an overview of the insight and what was involved on a day-to-day basis.
The insight day took place virtually for a single day. The day consisted of talks from individuals, including partners, panel sessions, and external speakers. It was great to be able to ask lots of questions to the panels as the group size was small. During the day, we heard from people working in the technology side of the business as well as from student recruitment. The most interesting panel was from 5 women working in different technology service lines.
What was it like understanding all about the business and potential roles available?
The day was very helpful in giving me an insight into a broad overview of the company as well as looking in detail at the specific service lines using technology more heavily. It was great to get specific details about the roles available on the fast track scheme. It was also good to get an insight into the culture of working at EY. I found the day very informative overall and would definitely recommend it.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
I learnt how to develop my personal brand from an external speaker, Bianca Miller. This was one of the best parts of the event as she was very engaging and lively. It was also great to hear more about how to make the most out of LinkedIn on how to network and engage with people. I also leant how to make the most out of a virtual event, including note taking and actively listening to the speakers.

Company Culture

How would you rate business leader involvement during the insight
5/5
What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
The general atmosphere from the staff on the call was good. They were all very enthusiastic. However, due to the event being virtual, I found it very difficult for the event to be interactive. There were several long sessions of listening to virtual speakers without audience involvement. It would have been great if we could've had more networking events with other participants/EY staff. I think that it would be great to visit the EY office in person.

Overall Experience

To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
I really enjoyed the insight day and found the talks and panels to be extremely helpful. The information we were given was presented clearly and concisely. It was really nice to have the celebration event at the end as well. However, it would have been great if we could have had some more interaction with other participants and members of staff. I enjoyed the celebration event as well as it was nice to meet other candidates.

Yes
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to EY
Put the effort into the application process now so that you can make the most of the fast track process in the future and not worry about it later in your degree. Make sure that you read the questions in the webcam interview properly. It can be hard to focus under the time pressure. It is also important to make sure that you have filled in the form properly as you don't want to make any mistakes with your details.
