Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

My current role is to attend to breakdowns in the machining hall with other technicians to fix the fault. This ranges from mechanical, electrical and fluid power break downs.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

The program is enjoyable as there are many chances to apply and push yourself within the role.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

I have learnt how to assess failures/faults within different mechanical, fluid power and electrical systems used within the motor manufacture industry. I have also learnt how to fix these faults and the different approaches required to do so.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?

We have regular days for day release used to complete the academic side of the course.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

They provide days for day release to complete the academic courses and will allow for days to be taken off for study when there is an exam.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

BCU carried out regular reviews of the teaching staff who carried out the course to ensure that it was up to standard. They took the students views into consideration.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

By learning different control system technologies and theory behind controls and instrumentation, it gave us more of an insight into data is handled and processed within certain systems at the factory.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
