Spring Intern Review

During the programme, we gained exposure to various sector and product teams in the Investment Banking Division as well as the Global Markets division through coffee chats and panel presentations. We also went through a comprehensive investment banking training session by an external provider, encompassing an industry overview, trading simulation and soft skills workshop.

It was enlightening and highly stimulating to gain exposure to the various business lines available as well as to get a behind-the-scenes look at the daily work life of analysts at the firm.

Through the programme, I developed a prodigious better understanding of the workings underpinning an investment bank as well as developed a better comprehension of how workflows are structured at Nomura. I simultaneously gained insights into the relevant skillsets applicable to the various teams, even honing basic technical skills through the excel workshop.

The company culture was highly collegial, with senior bankers and graduate analysts all being highly accommodative with the cohort while being completely candid about their daily lives. While emanating an atmosphere of affability, the culture was also clearly one that was intellectually stimulating as evidenced by the stellar presentations given by senior bankers and analysts alike.

I enjoyed the insight very much, especially during the breakout room sessions with bankers at the firm where we got to have more interactive conversations and gain insights into the workings underpinning the business. There was also a concerted effort by the HR department to maximize our enjoyment of the programme, such as through the wine tasting farewell session where we also got to interact with interns from the Nomura Women's Immersion Programme.
