I work within the commercial finance team, specifically on Channels and Stock. My daily tasks include;
- Most of my time is spent working on ASOS Marketplace, analysing revenue and costs, and improving processes.
-Creating Financial models and forecasts
-Working towards month end meetings on profit/loss
-Assisting other channels, such as partner fulfils an wholesale

To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I enjoy most things about my apprenticeship, I like that fact that no two days are the same and my tasks are not boring.
I find that I see the application and relevance of my work to the company, which allows me to feel more valued as a team member, rather than just an apprentice.

I am constantly learning, whether that be in my job role or whilst studying towards my qualification. I have gained important skills and knowledge that is industry specific. As well as gaining some important personal skills that will be applicable as I advance my career. Such as communication, organisation and timeliness.
I have built up proficiencies in softwares such a Excel, PowerPoint, and SQL.

How well organised/structured is your programme?

My programme is split in that 20% of my working hours are spent studying towards my qualification. With flexibility as to what day I partake in my studies.
The programme is very well organised. We were given a very welcoming introduction week and our progression as an employee is well monitored.

How much support do you receive from your employer?

My employer is great when it comes to supporting me. As I have a relatively long commute, I am allowed flexibility as to when I am needed in the office. Which aids with work/life balance.
Within the company, there are lots of support networks for any issues you may have within work or personal life. Everyone is very friendly and approachable and I never feel stuck when I have issues.

How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

My training provider has given me a talent coach; which acts as my direct point of contact for any issues or concerns I have with regards to Kaplan. We have meetings to update on my progression towards my qualification.
The training provider itself allows for flexibility on how you receive the learning, (In person, Online or OnDemand). Which I find beneficial.
On the other hand, I think some of the study materials could do with improving.

How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

So far, I have just been studying the fundamentals within finance and accounting. This is extremely useful for my job role as It allows me to gain a surface level knowledge and understanding of all key areas and roles within finance. It also gives me a better understanding on some key words and calculations I have not come across In previous studies.
Although beneficial, In my job role as a financial analyst, I do not particularly use the skills of a financial accountant in my day job . But they are still vital for me to have for my career.

Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

ASOS are great for team building and social activities. Within the office, there are always events going on. For example external companies coming in to showcase there product. Or displays in of new products.
Within my team, we aim to go on social events to encourage the building of relationships with co-workers.
I try to go to as many events as I can.

Why?
ASOS is a very friendly and welcoming place to work. Especially for young people looking to land an apprenticeship. I believe its the perfect environment for a school leaver to develop workplace and industry specific skills to boost their future career.
The office is trendy, and all staff are seem friendly and passionate about the company.

What tips or advice would you give to others applying to ASOS?
Be yourself. As ASOS they are deeply rooted in the key principles and values. They encourage you to be who you want to be.
