Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
3/5
Currently working in Worldwide Airports, my role is to manage the deployment of Uniform across the stations we, at British Airways, operate in. This includes daily adhoc tasks such as replying to email queries or supporting colleagues with ordering their uniform. I also work alongside the Business Resilience team to plan and execute desktop exercises in the Crisis Management Chamber.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
4/5
I have enjoyed the programme so far, my last two placements have allowed me to gain a better understanding of the different aspects of British Airways. Each placement has given me exciting opportunities, for example, visiting airside to shadow aircraft dispatch, critical services, baggage and loading and airside safety week.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
I have learnt digital skills, excel skills, confidently developed my communication skills, problem solving, interpersonal and people skills.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
2/5
The programme is structured well overall. 3 placements, each 4 months, across a year and a 2 year placement after this. With individual placements, the structure could be improved. Placement managers should have training plans in place for new apprentices joining the team. This would allow an apprentice to feel comfortable in their new learning journey and environment. I have noticed that in my last two placements, there has not been a structured plan or training provided to me which has led me to feel overwhelmed during the beginning of both of my placements.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
I have received a lot of support from my emerging talent apprenticeship manager. They are incredibly attentive and understanding, allowing us as a cohort to feel confident in asking questions or raising concerns we may have.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
3/5
Workshops are held often. Reflective accounts and CPD log submissions are made monthly to our Delivery Tutor. Support could be improved, response times are usually delayed when trying to contact our delivery tutor.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
2/5
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
4/5
There are the flying start games coming up at the end of the month which is a great way to socialise with teams. During our apprenticeship programme, I am aware that award events take place which apprentices have attended, it is a great initiative to recognise the hard work and achievements that have been made so far.
