Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
3/5
My role is mainly based off of production assembly work on motor cars. Aligning, fixing and securing components to cars following set processes and work instructions. Also there are opportunities to get involved with departmental projects and go on placements to other departments.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
3/5
When taking up other opportunities I really enjoy work - especially learning and developing a new skill that is valuable to me and helps progress me as a person. My home department when working in production is very monotonous and enjoyment is low.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
Yes lots of new skills however these were mostly learnt and developed in other more technical departments. My home department is very basic and teaches you about the product but is limited in wider skill building.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
3/5
Currently my program structure is improving however it can still take time to get answers to some questions and delays on promised tasks are frequent. However it is a lot better from how it was which basically left me independent to push for progression and find opportunities.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
3/5
Support is in abundance when it is required from lots of people with lots of experience. Sometimes there can be a lack of support from departmental management and not much time to reflect on the work you have done for them and ask them questions.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
4/5
Currently am not working towards any qualifications, when i was my training provider was very helpful and supportive with assignments.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
4/5
The coursework surrounding lean manufacturing has been very easy for me to apply to my workplace as knowing about waste saving is a common task in my day to day work. I have had to use my knowledge on many occasions within internal projects resulting in good quality work.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
3/5
Yes my employer puts on many social events and activities outside of work which promotes inclusion however some events are targeted more towards 18+.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend BMW Group UK to a friend?
Yes
Why?
Can provide plenty of opportunities if you are hard working with a hint of luck. Earn whilst you learn.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to BMW Group UK?
Apply for a higher level apprenticeship if you qualify as the opportunities and end prospects are much more exciting and technical most of the time. The quality of life as an apprentice at work for those on higher levels tends to be better.
