Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
Paint shop planning, organising new model cars coming into paint for trials ect.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
4/5
I really enjoy it, has developed me in a personal and professional sense. I have made friends for life and worked with some amazing people who have taught me alot. I am very happy that I chose to do this over uni as I have earn money as well. Thanks.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
Lean manufacturing is a skill I have developed as I now look at problems from an efficiency viewpoint whilst keeping quality at the highest possible. More valuable skills I have learnt is Catia and how to reverse engineer products on CAD. Lastly skills in an automotive aspect I have learnt.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
3/5
It is somewhat well structured. Over time it has developed and gotten better as the managers gain experience with how to deal with us apprentices. However the college side has been very good as one worker in particular was very attentiative towards us and helped out at all points of our development.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
4/5
My line manager is particularly supportive as I see them everyday and have regular one to ones with them to see where I am developing and where I can improve. This is useful for me as it keeps me focused on the main goal and learning as much as possible.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
4/5
As I said before the college staff are very good at helping us out and explaining everything we need to do in great detail. Even though we dont see them much they are constantly working behind the scenes to keep everything working well and allows our apprenticeship to run smoothly.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
3/5
In some aspects it helps alot as the skills are quite transferable such as the lean manufacturing topics as they are used across the whole of the BMW group. Along with this 5 S is particularly useful as it helps me look at problems from a specific viewpoint to get the best outcome possible.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
3/5
Alot of the extra-curricular activities are set up by the interns or apprentices and I think it would be good if more were made which are specifically catered towards us. Such as a step challenge or something which is able to go along side work well and not impact work life.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend BMW Group UK to a friend?
Yes
Why?
They are such a prestigious company where there is alot of progression. Along with this the workplace is a good environment as it is challenging however always places to learn and develop. Especially the apprenticeship is good as you learn and earn at the same time so its the best of both worlds.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to BMW Group UK?
Come in with an open mind, be willing to learn and develop. It may be daunting at times but people are alwasy around to help so you just need to ask. Even if you arent a confident person, working here will massively improve that as you are thrown in the deep end and need to perform otherwise you wont progress.
