Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
3/5
Assembly process and quality planning. Implementation of new equipment project where required for production processes. Test and finish quality measures in alignment with group standards and legal requirements.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
3/5
It is reasonable enjoyable but my interactions are mainly within my own work team rather than other apprentices. Very dependent on team and role. There is less focus on learning and more on task-based working.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
3/5
Interpersonal skills and business skills. Planning phases, problem solving and independent/team working.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
2/5
Not particularly structured in my experience as my year group had to be independent and shape their own programme, so each person's experience and training level was completely different.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
4/5
If I need support I can ask for it and it is usually offered but sometimes needs chasing. Apprentices are not looked down upon by other staff - people are usually willing to help if you ask.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
2/5
Minimal support with the degree qualification. I have to allocate my own time to work on this, it is not very integrated into the apprenticeship unlike the college training in level 3/4 apprenticeships.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
2/5
I do not feel that my qualification aligns particularly well to my role as the degree content is quite different to my daily work but it is useful to have an understanding of the concepts taught in the degree.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
4/5
There are some groups outside of work which are optional. Many departments have regular socials outside work which are good for team building.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend BMW Group UK to a friend?
Yes
Why?
Generally a good place to work, it is a company that is made by the people that work there. Good prospects to move into a permanent job with good benefits after the apprenticeship.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to BMW Group UK?
Build your reputation by delivering good quality work, rather than trying to be seen all the time.
