Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
I begin my day with a morning meeting in which i put my hours down for what i done the previous day, as well as telling me what i am doing on the current day. I then begin my day, following the plan, whether thats preparing veneer for a car part or making an accessory or gift.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
i enjoy many elements of my programme, both at college and within the workplace. At college i get to explore many ideas and techniques during the course and build a final project with it. This then gets showcased at the end of year show where we show friends and family. I alos entered and got shortlisted into the young furniture makers show in my first year!

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
Coming from a carpentry and joinery background i already possessed a number of skills and techniques in which i use daily. However since being here, i have developed those further, now integrating veneer work into my skill set. this includes preparation (picking, matching cutting etc.) as well as glueing, pressing and repairing.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
1/5
Chichester have been dreadful during my time within this apprenticeship programme. Terrible organization, embarrassing communication and quite frankly, it's not good enough. I hope this isn't extended throughout all courses within the chichester college group. However, my tutor is great. supportive, knowledgeable and experienced. The course itself, once you finally manage to get onto it is great!
How much support do you receive from your employer?
2/5
During my apprenticeship, the level of supports has ranged. I personally do not and have not needed a high level of support throughout so it is difficult for to me to comment. However, when i have needed it responses have taken a reasonably long time previously. In recent times a new member of staff has employed to spread the work load, this has offered more personal support and interaction.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
5/5
When finally in my lessons. the tutor is experienced, knowledgeable and helpful. He's friendly and supportive of all of our ideas, designs and working techniques. it helps me perform better because i have the freedom to explore new ideas and make mistakes and therefore learn from them. Learning from my mistakes ensures that i don't make the same one twice and can reduce waste in the workplace.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
yes, there is a golf team and a football team, both which hold events and are very inviting and good at organising events and rounds of golf or training sessions/small games. I play alot of golf in my spare time as well as football every sunday and training midweek.
