2.8/5 - Structure and Support

Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
3/5
My day to day role consists of auditing different entities (this could be either through some sort of work papers which I would be assigned to complete i.e the revenue testing for certain types of income at an audited entity).
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
2/5
I enjoy it moderately it is quite challenging than I initially thought it would be - more time on training and to focus on exams would be better.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
3/5
I have learnt some skills in relation to audit over the past year since I had started but this was through working and learning myself - you have to be proactive as it is harder when you are an Apprentice - you do not get acknowledged and trained as much.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
2/5
I'd say fairly organised however when it comes to hard exams - there should be set dates that can be flexible around busy season times and extra study days left to complete this revision in rather than cramming in a lot of content and booking annual leave off last minute for exams.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
3/5
I'd say there could be a bit more support that could be provided by my employer - it is busy and challenging but for apprentices there could possibly be a bit more development.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
3/5
I do receive quite a lot from my training provider when it comes to support and closer to exams.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
3/5
I feel like when you do the exams then you do have a better grasp of what you are doing as you have learnt the basic knowledge and can then continue to apply this in the day to day job aspect.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
3/5
Yeah there are but these are limited.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend KPMG to a friend?
No
Why?
It does depend if I am recommending it to a Graduate then yes but if it is another Apprentice I would encourage them to explore some other opportunities first before applying to a challenging role to manage here at KPMG at a young age in your career.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to KPMG?
I would suggest that you are prepared to manage longer study hours and study days at times and sacrifice some time in the evenings to exams as work can build up after time and then is harder to balance out with studies at the same time especially when the exams are hard and intense.
