Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

as an apprentice in lean manufacturing level 2 at rolls Royce I start the day with meeting the team in one of my many placements that i have been allocated. i then learnt as many tacks on as many station. they help me with any problems i may face. i then end the day with 1 hour to do some college work.

To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I've found my apprenticeship fulfilling, having the chance to connect with new faces and cultivate skills I never imagined I could possess. Though the workload surpassed my expectations, it's been a valuable experience, maturity and granting insight into the realities of the professional world. My approach to work remains optimistic, loads of support and guidance of those I've encountered along the way, who have generously aided my growth and learning.

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

I have learnt many skills such as networking in all my placements , tools / machinery skills and many others.
I've acquired fresh skills across various placements, each with its unique environment. Additionally, I've honed my social skills, mastering effective communication techniques to ensure top-notch work quality to represent the quality that rolls Royce expect.

How well organised/structured is your programme?

I feel valued and included at Rolls-Royce, like an integral part of the team. Regular weekly and monthly meetings keep tabs on my progress and well-being, offering support whenever needed. Any challenges I've faced were swiftly addressed, emphasizing the importance of my input. Managers are dedicated to guiding all apprentices towards a bright future within the company, ensuring a positive trajectory for everyone.

How much support do you receive from your employer?

My schedule is well organized, with a clear timetable dictating my whereabouts throughout the year. As I transition between different areas like the leathershop, this timetable serves as a roadmap, indicating how much time remains in each zone and where I'll be heading next. It also helps me locate other apprentices if needed. Each zone comes with specific objectives we're expected to achieve within the two-month placement period. For instance, one task might involve crafting a valance for an RR5/6, ensuring we meet the requirements set for each zone.

How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

graham is amazing and provides us with plenty of support and makes me feel like i am not a student as much but treats me with respect which I appreciated loads. he's always there for us when we need a question answering and he very honest with us and lets us know anything we should know to help us succeed in this business

How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

our wage is extremely good for apprentices and and my salary meets my cost very well, although i do currently live at home with my parents so i don't have big bills to pay my current costs are travel to and from work, food costs and obviously the rest would ether be saved or used to my leisure.

Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

Given the wonderful nature of this job and its long-term prospects, I find myself presented with extraordinary opportunities. It opens doors to roles I never dreamed I could attain, making it truly a job for a lifetime.
its a perfect balance of having the benefit of being paid to learnt and have amazing group of lads and women around you which helps with encouraging you to perform better.

What tips or advice would you give to others applying to BMW Group UK?

Confidence is key, but the cornerstone here is teamwork. It's absolutely vital, and without it, you might find yourself struggling. Remember to be authentic and at ease—just be yourself and relax. :)
