Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
As part of our apprenticeship we have a split week, for example we have a few days of the week completing a Lean Manufacturing course at Chichester College to gain a wider skillset and during the remaining days we have tasks and placements set out for us at work within the Sewing department.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
I really enjoy this apprenticeship, the work is interesting and not stressful, It is a nice work environment and there is always a friendly face around if you need a hand with anything. Both Rolls Royce and Chichester College are very supportive in all aspects.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
Since the beginning of my apprenticeship I have gained a wide range of skills and knowledge I did not have prior to Starting. Chichester College planned for the group of us to do a selected few months only focusing on gaining skills, these will be helpful in the future as all the tasks and projects we were learning can be used in majority situations throughout life.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
5/5
Personally, I think the programme is structured well, having the break between the sewing machinist title and studying Lean Manufacturing at College has multiple benefits, for example it widens our knowledge an understanding massively. The days at work are mostly working with our hands and are productive, this gives us a good basic skillset, whereas we study the theory side of Lean Manufacturing at college which gives different skills and understandings.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
Both Rolls Royce and Chichester College give a huge amount of support with anything necessary, There is constant contact between everybody this helps eliminate any confusion that may come about.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
5/5
When working towards the qualification, there is a great amount of support, Especially from our study programme leader, If say you feel as though you are falling behind with college work, these is always something put in place to get back on track with things like Unit Practical work and OneFile.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
5/5
Personally, I feel as though the Lean Manufacturing Qualification we gain from College links nicely to the work expected within a normal working day. We are taught the values and practices of working Lean and automatically input this into the workplace.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
There is a huge variety of extra-curricular activities that are open to be involved in, for example, School events, Charity football matches, bake sales, Apprentice newsletter etc.
