Overview of Role
Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
I was a full-value member of the team, participating in every decision the team made. I worked on a backend service, a frontend dashboard, and on operational tasks, like maintaining the infrastructure and load testing. The team worked in 2-weeks long sprints, where we decided which tasks were most important to work on. Then we individually picked up tasks in order of importance, sometimes pairing with each other for knowledge sharing.
Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
Yes. I had the same responsibility as my teammates, only with less experience. I took up tickets, worked on them, released them for review and also reviewed others' work. The only responsibility I didn't have were in areas where I could make critical errors and harm the company, like accessing passwords and secret vaults.

Company Culture
What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
It was supportive. I felt trusted, not pressured or pushed. I've been given responsibilities and I was trusted to fulfil them. In case of a problem, I was not afraid to bring it up or I didn't find it necessary to hide it. I found no hostilities during my 11 months there.

What advice would you give to others applying to Unity Technologies
You have nothing to lose, except being less motivated to go back to university. Show interest in the field you'll work in and be able to demonstrate it. I think showing responsibility will help you secure a place.
