Overview of Role
Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

On a Monday I will attend College which is situated in Mini Plant Oxford, where I will attend class room lessons which include materials properties, Maths. then for the rest of the week I would attend Oxford in the workshop doing different rotations every 4 weeks which include, stick welding, electrical, PLC, electronics, fluid power, hand fitting, milling and turning.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I really enjoy my apprentice program as networking with the oxford apprentices has been great, meeting new people who I could potentially be friends with for life. I feel like attending Oxford has made me and my fellow colleagues see the bigger picture on what our work and where it goes.
Skills Development
Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

During my time at BMET I have learnt the following such as Milling and turning, hand fitting, PLC, fluid power, electrical, electronics, communications, maths, each of these rotations are four weeks at a time, each rotation comes with around 30 knowledge question known as k packs, each rotation comes with a series of logbooks which where you write about assessments which I find helpful to relay my thoughts on the assessment and how went about achieving a pass.

How well organised/structured is your programme?

I feel like the apprentice program has been well organised so far, me and my fellow colleagues have been provided with cars to attend the college in oxford so we don't have to drive our personal cars which is a big positive. Every rotation at the college is well structured and the tutors are well trained and very helpful, if you find yourself in the event of struggling the tutors are more than happy to help you.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

From BMW GROUP I receive plenty of support from my Manager/training specialist, I could not ask for better support, if I have a problem, 9 times out of 10 it get sorted, I have additional needs and I told my manager and it was made sure BMET was aware of this before I started which was a great help for me starting at BMET.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

During my time at BMET, I have received an abundance of help from my training provider, they supported me with my additional needs, they supported me through every rotation if I ask a question I dont feel scared to ask, BMET is a great college, everything is well planned and organised.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

i feel like my qualification has helped me with social skills, mental skills, maths. i feel like my qualification has helped me with networking with people I don't know. So far I am really enjoying the program and i would recommend it someone else, as its well worth it.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

At BMW GROUP, there are few different teams such as charity champions, conservation team, the conservation team is a team that is undergoing revamping an outdoor space which is situated in the Swindon Plant which hadn't been touched in years but now its great outdoor filled with park benches and fish in the pond and its a great green space to have your breaks whilst your at work.

Would you recommend BMW Group UK to a friend?

Why?
BMW offer a great apprentice, they teach you team building skills at the start where you will attend a residential park which is situated in devon, where you will do rock climbing, high ropes, water rafting and much more, then you will be put through college where you will learn new skills and meet new people and you will see some friendly faces from when you was the residential.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to BMW Group UK?
if you are applying for BMW I would say make sure dress smart for interviews, no trainers or baggy clothes, my advice would be to wear a shirt, chinos, and smart shoes as this provides the first impression to BMW Group, if you are nervous dont worry we expect it as its normal to feel worried about your interview its a big step.
