Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
I am a Level 3 Maintenance Technician and I am currently studying with Birmingham Metropolitan College and MINI Plant Oxford. On a Monday I do BTEC and the rest of the week I am in the workshop learning various different skills that will be useful in my future role, giving me confidence when I make it out of the training school.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
4/5
Overall, I enjoy the program. There are days where there isn't any practical to do and you will just be filling out paperwork all day which can make the day feel long but these days aren't often and are forgotten about when you have a day full of learning new skills

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
I have some previous experience of technical skills but it has been a long time since so it has been good to develop these existing skills up and learn some new skills that I have not had the chance to learn previously. It's been challenging but an enjoyable experience

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
3/5
Overall I think the structure is good but can sometimes be flawed. The structure is laid out well and you can see on a timescale all the work that has to be completed over the year but there can be days where you haven't got enough time to complete all your work and there will also be some days where you haven't got any work to do.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
I receive a lot of support from my employer. I have weekly meetings with my manager which is a brief catch up to communicate how I've been getting on that week and any information I might need to know. On top of this, there are quarterly performance reviews for feedback on how I am getting on which is really important.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
5/5
When working towards my qualifications I feel very confident that if I require support it will the there for me from my training provider. All the relevant tutors are approachable and are always happy to help when needed. If there are any problems to do with safeguarding I also know exactly who to approach or contact.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
5/5
The work I am doing in my qualification is making me feel confident for when I eventually get to working within my role. I have learnt various different technical skills and theory that I can see will be relevant to my role and will be very helpful knowledge to have when it comes to it.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
4/5
Although I feel as if there could be more, there are plenty extra-curricular activities for me to get involved in if I wanted to. There is a football team that plays once a week or there are also other teams like charity champions and nature conservation projects who are always grateful for people to get involved with.
