Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
As a first year apprentice my role starts on a Monday with college doing level 3 Btec qualification, then Tuesday to Friday is in the workshop in oxford going through rotations to earn the level 2 qualification, these rotations downstairs will cover all different aspects you will need for the apprenticeship.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
4/5
I really enjoy the programme, I have learnt lots of new skills that I would not have learnt if I did not join this apprenticeship, I have met loads of different people, from different plants and done a lot of networking to get my name out into the plant, in swindon and oxford.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
Yes i have learnt plenty of new skills, such as learning how to weld, learning how to use a mill, using a PLC, mechanical skills, i have leanrt different maths skills as well such as logarithms, then in physics learnt a lot of different skills, on how to structure answers and learnt about electricity.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
3/5
The programme is structured well from the BMW side and there is a lot of support and help if any problems occur, for the BMET side of the programme I think that sometimes it has been unorganized with tutors not being available, but they have tried there best to make sure we are covered for help.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
I receive a lot of support from BMW, my manager is always there to text or call if there are any problems, there are weekly meetings put in place to catch up with managers about how your weeks have been, any issues can be raised in these meetings and they will sort them out.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
3/5
I receive some support from the training provider, however when it comes to feedback and progression I feel like I am not receiving much feedback from tutors, sometimes they cannot resolve the problem I am having when they are supposed to teach. BTEC side of the programme has been ok and i have been receiving some feedback.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
4/5
I feel that the qualification is going to help me in my role in the future because I am learning all the skills I would need to learn to be able to perform the job, the qualification will allow me to better my knowledge on things i already knew as well.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
4/5
there are many activities you can join in with, such as the newsletter team, the charity champions, there is a also a conservation team, these are good ways to network through the business and meet with other people around other plants and see there views and what they do in a day to day life.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend BMW Group UK to a friend?
Yes
Why?
I would recommend BMW to a friend because it is a good business to get into with a lot of progression outside of the apprenticeship it is also a great way to improve personal skills and make new friends that you will be working with and to get your name out there in the work place.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to BMW Group UK?
my advice to anyone applying for BMW is to be confident when coming to interviews and make sure to sell yourself, ask a lot of questions and just be yourself so people can see who you are and why you should be hired, and be patient with the application process.
