Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
3/5
Team support, client coverage, admin, learning
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
3/5
I enjoy the role, and have appreciated the opportunity. But feel there have been setbacks in how it is managed by the Human Resources department. General management of the program is poor and inconsistent.
The team I work in is great, and I have been supported by the business area.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
3/5
Yes, general workplace hard and soft skills
Developed collaboration and team skills

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
1/5
The program managers in HR are inconsistent across divisions.
Feedback is often misinterpreted, eg request of a different study days was interpreted as a request of rotating study days which has severely disrupted the working day.
Questions are not responded to articulately or sensibly by HR and there is too much control by HR over the business needs and decisions.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
3/5
My team are supportive, and have fostered my growth.
I feel less supported by the program managers, but don’t interact so much with them on the day to day.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
3/5
The training provider is supportive, though I feel certain modules such as professional practice aren’t taught in a manner that is applicable to the workplace which therefore makes it a waste of time.
Feedback of this has not been responded to.
Overall, module leads are good and helpful and my academic mentor has been a great support.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
4/5
I feel the content is very applicable to the day to day, given I sit in a front office role I have found each side of the apprenticeship; work and study, to complement each other
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
4/5
Yes - I get involved in charity events and internal networks

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend UBS to a friend?
Yes
Why?
It’s a good company to work for, and the current limitations of the program won’t apply when finished with the scheme.
People are nice and supportive and have been encouraging
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to UBS?
Understand the company ahead of applying and carefully consider the business area beforehand, reaching out to current apprentices where possible
