Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
My role is in Equity Derivatives Sales; on a day to day, this includes supporting my team with pricing requests and running reports, because I'm not regulated
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
3/5
To a great extent - really enjoy what I do on a day to day and the content I’m studying but can get stressful at times

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
Yes, I've developed my time management and adaptability skills. Also taken an Excel course funded by my team.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
3/5
The programme is still relatively new, and therefore could be better organised/structured, as and when the management team implement suggestions from the apprentices.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
4/5
A lot, very helpful when it comes to work relevant issues
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
2/5
We receive support however there is a lot of room for improvement when it comes to miscommunication. You really need to attentive to spot any discrepancies and flag to the team.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
2/5
This differs from apprentice to apprentice - for me, the qualification helps as a foundation but isn't as technical as what's required for my role. It may prove more useful should I decide to pursue a different area of finance in the future.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
3/5
Yes, lots of events go on regularly. Sports more so in the summer months but lots of professional events throughout the year, depending on which networks you join.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend UBS to a friend?
Yes
Why?
Yes and No (depending on the person) as there is lots of room for improvement regarding the training provider, which could prove demotivating to a lot of students. If I was off the apprenticeship, I’d definitely recommend UBS as a place to work as the culture is lovely!
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to UBS?
Everyone’s super nice so no need to be nervous. If on the apprenticeship, be prepared to juggle all aspects and give it your best shot.
