Overview of Experience

Please give an overview of the insight and what was involved on a day-to-day basis.
I had the chance to participate in interactive workshops, and panels with both analysts and business leaders. Furthermore, the day-to-day involved desk rotations and coffee chats within specific desks on the trading floor. In the meantime, I was preparing a stock pitch to present to the Spring Week panel, and our kind hosts at GS.
What was it like understanding all about the business and potential roles available?
The Business Insight was incredibly thorough and simultaneously genuine and illuminating. Everyone on the desk rotations and within the business as a whole was incredibly eager to help us Spring Interns find our place within the franchise. Simultaneously, networking lunches and coffee chats provided excellent opportunities to get to know Goldman's people in a less informal environment, understanding even better how the various business areas come together and where I can become an asset.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
I developed many skills both on the technical and analytical side. The spring week involved several trainings, surrounding the structure of global markets, and the desk rotations elucidated the technical details underlying the instruments being traded in each asset class and desk. Simultaneously, I developed critical commercial awareness, and client-facing skills through working on the stock pitch and the constant exchanges with Goldman's people throughout the Spring Week.

What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
I cannot praise Goldman's culture more. The apprenticeship culture, and GS being a peoples-centric business was absolutely critical to making us Spring Interns feel part of the franchise. Goldman's ambitious, smart, and kind people and its unique culture, grounded in teamwork, integrity, partnership, and always doing the utmost to serve clients, will going forward always be the key driver for me hoping to be part of the Global Markets Division at Goldman Sachs.

Overall Experience

To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
I could not have enjoyed my experience with Goldman more. Goldman's doors are open for applicants from all backgrounds and walks of life in the Spring week. Whoever you are, the spring week will make you feel part of the business and of the one GS franchise. The experience was incredibly formative, and I would absolutely recommend it to anyone.

What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Goldman Sachs Group
Leading up to the Spring Week, I can extremely recommend attending one of Goldman's campus recruitment events. I would also encourage you to perhaps reach out to anybody at GS from your division of interest who may have a shared background (in terms of a language you speak, university or society you were part of) on LinkedIn to learn first-hand about Goldman's people and culture.
