Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
3/5
I carry out due diligence checks for the bank and before any payments/trades can take place.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
3/5
I like the programme but currently it has become quite stagnant due to not being allowed to progress into the front office.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
2/5
I have learnt the same task but I am not allowed to move team so I can’t really learn any other skills until I move.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
3/5
From my experience, it is not very well structured as we were originally told that we would progress into the front office after a year of being here. It is now about 18 months and there are no plans despite me asking.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
2/5
I receive great support from the Apprenticeship team but not so much from my manager/leadership team in my department.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
2/5
Exeter are not the best and are not always helpful when it comes to preparing for exams. We haven’t been given textbooks for the CFA despite having to study a huge amount of text.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
3/5
CFA is not super relevant to wealth management, but having a degree in finance will help in other finance jobs later on in my career.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
3/5
There are lots of events for apprentices but not really any that I am interested in. I would prefer a wider range of clubs so then I could participate.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend UBS to a friend?
Yes
Why?
Overall, it is a lovely place to work. Personally, my experiences haven’t been the best, but I hear much better things from people in other departments/teams.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to UBS?
Be confident, be yourself and make sure you let your personality shine through.
