Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
3/5
I work to resolve incidents raised by ops teams.
I do Site Reliability Engineering and Automation work
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
3/5
I enjoy the program but there is a lack of internal mobility to try new things

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
I've learnt how to use Linux, improve my scripting
networking skills improved

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
3/5
The program is well organised in terms of time given to university, but the specialism isn't considered as heavily since we are not placed on teams which align with these
How much support do you receive from your employer?
4/5
I receive a lot of support from the employer when I need it, with mentors, buddies and networks to go to
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
4/5
The training provider provides great support with the mentor and lecturers responding swiftly to any questions
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
2/5
The qualification doesn't help too much with the role as my current role doesn't align to the modules too well. And the technology and methods of working are far different to what uni teaches
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
4/5
There are extra activities through networks such as apprentice net and junior talent. Most external activities are organised by ourselves rather than through a central location

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend UBS to a friend?
Yes
Why?
UBS is a great place to work when it comes to the people you meet and the skills you learn through it.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to UBS?
The main tip I can offer is try not to be intimidated about speaking to senior people. Make sure you can show off your achievements, articulate yourself well, and be personable (its not always about what you have done but about how the employer thinks you can fit in with their values)
