Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
I work on the valuation of businesses and assets across a wide range of industries and geographies. Day to day this involves building up discount rates and studying market transactions to create excel workpapers and powerpoint reports.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
4/5
I really enjoy learning about new companies and assets and it is a steep learning curve which means that there is no time when I am not improving or learning more.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
I have learnt how to value a company based on the income, market and cost approaches and this has honed my financial modelling skills.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
4/5
Very well structured, we have regular progress reviews and coach calls and I know the direction I am heading towards over the 3 years.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
4/5
Lots of support, for example we have protected study leave days and experienced people in the business who can help if I have any queries.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
3/5
Bpp are good at providing the course content and they tend to schedule extra revision sessions and drop ins if you are struggling with anything.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
4/5
Becoming a chartered accountant is very useful for my day to day role because we often review valuations for financial reporting purposes - e.g. provisions so if we didn't have the accounting knowledge it would be harder.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
3/5
Yes I am part of two sports teams at EY and we also have networking events with other teams in the business.
