Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
3/5
Working in teams on audit clients, communicating with clients and receiving coaching from team members on audit practice. Apprenticeship includes study leave and college tuition for ACA exams.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
4/5
Office has a friendly atmosphere, mental wellbeing is taken very seriously and we are given adequate time to study for exams. Training is interesting and we are constantly working with new people and learning new things.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
Started completely from scratch in terms of accounting knowledge. Have learnt basic accounting and business knowledge in college and learning audit practice on the job every day.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
2/5
Some disorganisation when first joining, but most of our training/college has been well structured around our client work.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
Any support I need. There is support for college, for managing workload, for mental wellbeing, among the teams we work with, within our cohort… I know where to turn should I need help.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
3/5
I have a designated coach who I meet with occasionally to discuss how I am doing on our exams, and I am able to talk to my counsellor if I have issues.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
5/5
My qualification is directly related to my role, I use my new knowledge as soon as I come back into the office after studying.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
3/5
Lots of social activities, a couple of sports teams but not as much as the bigger offices.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend EY to a friend?
Yes
Why?
As soon as I started my application, I felt EY would support me on my career journey and help me develop my skills. Others in the office give up their time to coach us as they know it’s for the greater good of the office. I feel very welcome.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to EY?
Be honest, don’t try to come across as who you think you should be in interview, come across as yourself. They value confident, communicative people who have interests and passions. Know why you want to follow your career path and show that.
