Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

Preparing tax returns and providing ad hoc advice to clients regarding their tax affairs. We also do reviews of clients tax affairs and larger remediation projects to help resolve any tax issues they are facing. There is also some admin involved including managing client accounts to ensure they are profitable and are billed correctly.

How well organised/structured is your programme?

You never know when your study leave, exams or results will be or where your college will be which makes it difficult to plan your life. The structure (once finally organised) is good and it allows to focus solely on exams and progress through them quickly.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

Qualification is good for auditors or accountants but when you specialise in one area the knowledge you learn is far too broad to be of much use

Why?
Tax consulting is very niche and can be quite dull if that is not what you're interested in. Each team also has a culture which can be good or bad, I think I was unlucky being put in a team with a poor culture.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to EY?
Pick an area you are interested in!
