My role involves client acceptance and client engagement admin with a few technical aspects such as drafting tax provisions and tax computations.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I do enjoy the programme but I would have liked to have had some kind of secondment in each sub service line to really try out all of the different types of work.

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

As I joined my apprenticeship straight from college I have definitely developed personal skills such as communicating with others and also putting myself out of my comfort zone.

How well organised/structured is your programme?

I think the programme is well structured and it is very clear what each stage of the apprenticeship looks like. I always know what to expect and what is upcoming
How much support do you receive from your employer?

Everyone I have come into contact with at EY has always been really supportive, helpful and I never feel like any question is a silly question. I can honestly say I have had a really positive onboarding experience and been really welcomed.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

In exams where they are self-taught I do feel that the advice and support could be a bit better as you are
really on your own during that time but the typical online or in person college is fine as you have a direct contact for questions.

How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

Most of my work is tax based so only really the tax exam has contributed to my day to day job as majority of the exams are audit/accountancy based so in that sense I cant really relate to some of the concepts
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

There are occasionally network events but tend to be quite limited with the amount of capacity so sometimes difficult to join. There are also sport teams but unfortunately I dont play any of the sports offered.

Would you recommend EY to a friend?
Yes
Why?
I think EY offers a fantastic opportunity in any service line and there's no reason why working here would be a bad thing for anyone. It offers really valuable experience in all aspects of life.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to EY?
I think focusing on the exams is huge as it is quite easy to be pressured into prioritizing work from colleagues but I think the exams are more important. I would also suggest putting yourself out there and attending the socials.
