Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
I am a apprentice technician at Audi, I do things like assist/learn with my mentor on jobs, help others around in the garage, carry out simple jobs like oil and inspection, to health checks, changing tyres and doing puncture repairs. As well as cleaning up the workshop to make sure it is kept in the best condition possible.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
4/5
I really enjoy, I’m surrounded by very passionate people who are also just really good to be with. It can get tricky or overwhelming at times but I find once I overcome them, I enhance my knowledge and ability’s a lot more and overall grow more as a person.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
Yes, I have learned what to look out for on cars, how to properly carry out health checks, working on cars mechanically as well as doing software updates/warranty work on cars the proper way. I’ve evolved my skills on tyres more when I came to Audi, as well as my knowledge on cars.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
4/5
It is very organised, each week i learn something new, taking the time to fully understand what i am being taught and making sure I am getting the most out of being taught each time.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
A lot, they make sure that I’m not getting behind on college work, they always are willing to listen if I am struggling with anything or need to shadow different people on different jobs.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
5/5
Again a lot, if I have any questions regarding how to write something up or what’s the best thing to do, they are always happy to point me in the right direction.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
5/5
A lot, since starting I have noticed I have a lot more knowledge and understanding when it comes to knowing about cars. How certain things work, what to look out for, how to do things a proper way.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
Work will do certain things, for example they do a charity quiz night each year, they also do a Christmas meal, but outside of work a lot of us in the workshop have a group chat where we organise meet ups or events, I’ve been to a BBQ with a lot of the guys as well as a night out we did for someone who was leaving the business.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend Audi to a friend?
Yes
Why?
While the work can be a lot sometimes due to us being a busy dealership, overall the people you work with is a lot more worth it. Everyone makes sure you are okay, that you understand what’s happen, how to do things correctly, and looks after you. It really feels like a family, plus you are working with a business that looks after you rather than just the numbers. We have meetings where they will say while work is hard and we might be behind, they will be committed with working with us individually to make sure they can help wherever they can in the business.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Audi?
Be yourself is the best advice. You don’t need to know everything, and no one expects you to. As long as you have the right attitude and want to learn/progress, you can really go a long way with the business.
