Overview of Experience
Please give an overview of the insight and what was involved on a day-to-day basis.
The programme was targeted at young black students and graduates to give a peek into life at KPMG. We got to learn from and interact with employees and understood their roles and responsibilities. We got to learn about the different networks providing support for employees within the firm. We worked in small teams on a project which we presented to senior employees and received valuable feedback on. We truly had the KPMG culture expereince.
What was it like understanding all about the business and potential roles available?
It was really presented in a straightforward and down to earth manner that helped everyone understand the different capabilities within KPMG, their training requirements, nature of work and clients and career progressions available.

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
I had the opportunity to utilise my presentation, teamwork, networking and problem-solving skills. In addition to this, we had sessions on well-being and computing that gave me some new insights which I believe will be important in my professional journey.

How would you rate business leader involvement during the insight

What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
The company culture was very vibrant and relaxed and mindful of everyone's needs to ensure that we all had the best experience and did not at all feel left out. The firm has a lot of investment in CSR activities and even encourages each employee to participate in volunteering for CSR initiatives of their choice.

Overall Experience
To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
I enjoyed the insight programme a lot. It was a chance to interact with new people and have a relaxed insider view of what life at KPMG would be. I enjoyed the fact that employees volunteered their time to come to speak with us and answered all the questions we had with relevant examples. It was really good.

What tips or advice would you give to others applying to KPMG
Be yourself and take advantage of the resources that are available on the KPMG website. Ask all the questions you can about the process so you can be calm and prepare adequately for it. Be present and enjoy the process. Learn about the various KPMG capabilities and make sure you know as much about the specific capability you're applying to. Think of how you align with the KPMG values and reflect them at every point of your application.
